Charity Aims
Dr Peter Jones is forming a science education charity with a team of science teachers, academics and TSO experienced trustees. The charity (Science4Bristol, S4B.org.uk, tbc) aims to promote STEM subject uptake by Bristol’s children and young adults, by offering brilliant and exciting new science learning opportunities, including using advanced scientific instrumentation, which is not normally available to schools and colleges. Practical environmental and health topics will also be made exciting, with an emphasis on healthy living and reducing pollution; e.g. microscopic analysis of PM10’s and gas analysis of our air could change future travel habits. The new science education centre will support and bolster Bristol’s UNESCO Learning City Status and supplement Bristol’s 20:20 plan. It will deliver clear measurable objectives that will enhance Bristol as a city.
